Situated in the Valli Giudicarie, between Lake Garda and the Brenta Dolomites, the pile-dwelling settlement of Fiavé has been included within the UNESCO World Heritage site “Prehistoric Pile dwellings around the Alps” since 2011.

Built in 2012 the Museo delle Palafitte di Fiavé offers a compelling journey into the past, back in the pile dwelling era. A unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the atmosphere of the pile dwelling village along the banks of the ancient Lake Carera 3500 years ago. Video footage, installations, a large, accurately-reconstructed replica model and an extraordinary collection of more than 300 wooden objects allow us to get to know and better understand the life of our Bronze Age ancestors. One section of the museum is dedicated to the unique Fiavé-Carera nature reserve and site of European Community interest.

The Parco Archeo Natura was opened to the public in 2021 in the nature reserve Fiavé-Carera, in an environment of great value a few dozen metres from the archaeological area, where once was the ancient Carera Lake and where the remains of the prehistoric pile-dwellings can still be seen. A visit to the park is an invitation to adventure and exploration of the past along an engaging route with full-scale reconstruction of the prehistoric buildings, installations illustrating life at the time of the pile dwellings, information panels, a visitor centre with films and multimedia equipment, rest areas as well as spaces dedicated to families and children.
